On any given Sunday only 8% of Paulding County, GA residents attend church. If every church in the county were filled to capacity 51% of the residents would not be in church. Simply put … Paulding County is unchurched.
That scenario plays out repeatedly across the Bible Belt as communities have been left behind by church outreach. Dick Hillis, missionary to Asia and founder of OC International (formerly Overseas Crusades) said, “Every heart with Christ, a missionary; every heart without Christ, a mission field.”1 The South is truly a mission field!
Perhaps you felt the urging of the Holy Spirit in your life to become a missionary and circumstances “happened” and you never made it to the mission field or you followed your dream to work and plan well for your future—not making it to the mission field. Perhaps you did not feel led to go overseas and you didn’t consider the possibility here. You are needed!
God has a blessed life planned for you and, more importantly, people He has planned for you to reach. He asks every believer to be missional in everyday life; some He asks to give their career to serving Him. (Matthew 4:19)
Billy Graham said, “There are a thousand things you can do with your life, a thousand things for which you can spend it. But how many of them will enable you to say at the end of your life, ‘No reserve, no retreat, no regrets?’"2 Wholeheartedly following the Lord’s call to serve Him through missions will leave you with no reserve, not retreat, and no regrets.
