Global Eyes: Seeing Our Communities As God Does |
From Region Six—the Northeast Region—
|
Thinking Globally “We have become aquarium keepers—lost in our own world and so separated that we have no contact with those who need Christ,” states Paul Borthwick, adjunct professor of missions at Gordon College. Our neighborhoods are changing, the church is changing, and we must be aware of that change! The church of Jesus Christ is multi-ethnic—we can’t keep acting as though it is a predominantly white, American institution. How do we stay globally informed and active? One of Borthwick’s suggestions is that as we dress each morning, we check the tag on our collar to discover where the shirt was made and then pray for that country. It is a simple way to begin thinking globally. We can also pray that God will give us opportunities to meet and befriend people who come from other countries and cultures. God may enable you to lead one of your “new neighbors” into a relationship with Him. (Link to rest of story and photos…) |
