As a home missionary with AMF, you'll use several of these outreach methods, depending on the type and location of your ministry:
Church Planting and Development:
AMF focuses its church planting efforts on communities with no Gospel witness. Missionaries also strengthen existing churches by training and encouraging church leaders or providing activities for youth.
Bible Studies:
Known to us as Learning Communities, AMF Bible studies are personal and informal and are effective for evangelism, discipleship, or church planting.
Christian Camping:
Trail camps, youth camps, and family camps combine fun and spiritual challenges in a way that yields many salvation decisions each year.
Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry:
Bible clubs, Vacation Bible Schools, release-time classes, and youth groups provide fellowship and opportunities for kids and teens to grow in Christ. Ministries like Vacation Bible School are often the first open door in an unchurched community.
Innovative methods that you will invent:
AMF ministries thrive on innovation and creativity. New, God-honoring ministry methods of evangelizing, discipling, and congregating unchurched people are welcomed with excitement.
We also welcome second-career missionaries.
Second-career missionaries, people who apply for missionary service after a number of years in another occupation, are eligible for all types of ministry within the AMF family.
Ministry opportunities with AMF include working with a wide range of ages and cultures in nearly every state in the United States. Almost any spiritual gift can find expression in serving others through AMF.
Basic Qualifications:
Men and women serving in U.S. missions with American Missionary Fellowship (AMF) must know Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord and must possess a concern for unchurched people. Training in God's Word, commitment to sound doctrine, and the ability to teach the Bible are also necessary. Candidates must possess leadership skills and good health. Training can be customized to the applicant's background and experience and can be completed while on the field.
Support:
Options for support include : raising full support or raising partial support and supplementing that income with previously accrued retirement or pension benefits. Medical insurance is available through AMF's group plan.
