There are several important steps in the process of becoming an AMF missionary.  Each one is designed to help answer the big questions: Is God leading you to be a missionary? When? Where? How? With whom?

  1. Complete a preliminary questionnaire, available from any AMF representative or from the Home Office.
  2. Schedule an interview with a regional director or other AMF representative.
  3. Complete a formal application, which includes personal references.
  4. Complete an interview with AMF's director of ministry resources.
  5. Become an approved candidate, after an evaluation by the Personnel Committee of the Board.
  6. Begin deputation ministry and attend candidate orientation at the AMF Home Office.

As the country’s oldest and largest home missions organization, AMF offers many exciting opportunities to serve in U.S. missions.  Rather than concentrating on just one type of ministry, AMF uses a variety of outreach methods, including Christian camping, children’s ministry, ethnic ministry, and Learning Communities.  The application process is the same, no matter what area of American missions service you are considering.
